How to reach it

In Rom Manager or RomBase Manager open the context menu (right click) in the file list and choose the Detect MobyGames Links... menu item

How it works

The detection of MobyGames Links is based on text comparison between the file/game names and the MobyGames release names. To achieve an optimal result, filtering has to take place for the file/game names and the MobyGames release names.

Important: these filters do not change your actual file names.

Strip File Extensions

The file/game names may come with extensions, e.g. .bin, .iso, .md etc.

As MobyGames releases do not contain such extensions, it is recommended to strip all of them from the file/game names in order to get good results in a text comparison.

This filter would be applied to your filenames.

Example:

Original Filename: "Sonic The Hedgehog 2.md"

Text after filtering: "Sonic The Hedgehog 2"

Strip Tags from Filenames

The file/game names may come with tags, e.g. (2003), (id Software), [h1] etc.

As MobyGames releases do not contain such tags, it is recommended to strip all of them from the file/game names in order to get good results in a text comparison.

Stripping tags means, any occurence of text within brackets will be removed.

This filter would be applied to your filenames.

Example:

Original Filename: "Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (World) (Rev A)"

Text after filtering: "Sonic The Hedgehog 2"

Sort whole words

In some cases your file/game names can differ from MobyGames release names concerning the placement of the words. To cope with that, all texts can be split up by whole words, sorted by them and finally put together.

This filter would be applied to your file/game names and MobyGames release names.

Example:

Original Filename: "Faery Tale Adventure, The"

After filtering: "Adventure, Faery Tale The"

Remove Characters

Some characters do not add up to the distinguishability of games. They could even be malicious regarding text comparison.

This filter applies for your file/game names and MobyGames release names.

Example:

Original Filename: "Dinosaur's Tale, A"

After filtering: "Dinosaurs Tale A"

Minimum Match Score

Define here, the minimum match score that is needed to consider a match.

A lower minimum match score can lead to a lesser performant analysis.
