How to reach it

Go to Settings and click the M.A.M.E. Configuration button.

How it works

M.A.M.E. uses its own internal database of games where each game has a unique identifier. In order to support M.A.M.E. Metropolis Launcher reads M.A.M.E.'s internal database and imports these games.

For this we need:

the M.A.M.E. Executable (full path)

(optional) history.dat
history.dat provides trivia, facts, tips and other information for your games and machines
you can download history.dat from http://www.arcade-history.com/?page=download

(optional) mameinfo.dat
mameinfo.dat contains a plethora of information about the games
you can download mameinfo.dat from http://mameinfo.mameworld.info/

(optional) gameinit.dat
gameinit.dat lists the initialization procedures of some games emulated by MAME; in fact, some of them, are not immediately playable the first time
you can download gameinit.dat from http://www.progettosnaps.net/gameinit

(optional) an .ini file for filtering
Only games referenced in the .ini will be kept. The rest will be removed (e.g. slot machines, MESS software list games etc.)
you can download .ini files for filtering from http://www.progettosnaps.net/renameset/ (category.ini)

Important: before clicking the Scan! button, you should make sure that the mame.ini is present in the M.A.M.E. installation directory and at least the rompath is set up correctly. Metropolis Launcher will only add working games/Roms.

After scanning, you can import even more meta-data by using the Import Category File button.

For each found category Metropolis Launcher tries to apply meta data attributes (e.g. for the category "2P alt" the attribute "1-2 players" and "hot seat" are suitable). If no meta data attributes can be found, the Edit Game dialog in Category Mode will pop up for you to decide which attributes should apply for the category.

If you untick the Auto-Import checkbox, for every category the Edit Game dialog is shown.
